Programme

An integrated programme of conference sessions, exhibition formats, discussions, lectures and review events, 6–9 April 2027.

CA²RE Ghent 2027 unfolds over four days. At its core, the event remains a CA²RE conference, with intensive peer-review sessions centred on doctoral, postdoctoral and practice-based research. Each accepted contribution receives dedicated discussion time with respondents and peers.

In parallel, participants have access to MATTERS, a curated exhibition presenting design-driven and artistic research through artefacts, performances and spatial interventions. The exhibition serves not merely as a backdrop to the conference, but as an active research environment that tests how knowledge can be communicated and discussed through material and spatial forms.

The event also coincides with activities related to the Department of Architecture's ADRO review framework. By bringing together international CA²RE participants, senior researchers, commission members, candidates and invited guests, Ghent 2027 creates a unique setting in which questions of research evaluation, peer review, exhibition and public dissemination can be explored simultaneously.

Experimental formats

Participants are encouraged to develop experimental formats for presenting and discussing their work — making use of artefacts, objects, installations, performances, multimedia environments, films, live demonstrations and other spatial or material forms that contribute to the communication of their research.

Mode of presentation

Each accepted contribution is allocated 20 minutes of presentation and 40 minutes of discussion and peer review, conducted with a board of respondents and peers as part of the CA²RE review methodology.
